Adults and children love this spicy and tasty rice meal.
A Jollof rice is a favourite meal in the West African region and very popular amongst Nigerians and Ghanaians alike..
Recently there was an harmless tussle and disagreement among citizens of western states of Africa as to the country that cooks the best and the most delicious jollof rice, No country ever really won the jollof rice argument but Nigerians wanted to have the heads of their information minister when he replied Richard Quest on live TV that "Senegal probably makes the best jollof rice"..
But be it Nigerian jollof, Senegalese jollof, Ghanaian jollof etc they call came from the same origin traceable to the Jollof tribe in the Senegambia region of West Africa. Jollof rice is also called Benachinân in the Wolof language. The Kingdom of Jolof (French : Djolof or Diolof ), also known as Wolof and Wollof, was a West African rump state located in what is today the nation of Senegal .
they are main exporters of Rice and they grow different rice species, and their king is called Burba Jollof.. Just like we have Ooni of Ife, Emir of kano etc..
Now coming back to the answer the minister of information gave to the CNN presenter, could it be that he was aware of the origin of jollof rice and thought that since Senegal is the origin, they would probably be the best 'cookers' of jollof rice? Is he right? Share your comments
